Journey is a gentle, resilient boy who needs a little time to build trust, but once he does, he becomes very attached to his person. He can still be shy with touch and affection, but he will let you know when he is ready. He enjoys going outside, soaking up the sun, and being near the people he trusts. Journey is treat motivated, knows “sit” for treats, and is continuing to build confidence every day.
Training & Manners
Crate trained: No — he does not do well in a crate
Potty trained: Mostly — will also use pee pads
Leash trained: Working on it — he can be hard to leash, but does well once the leash is on
Basic commands: Working on it — knows “sit” for treats
Good With
• Dogs: Selective / slow introductions needed
• Cats: Curious, no aggression shown — slow introductions recommended
• Kids: Older kids preferred
Ideal Home
Journey would do best in a patient, calm, mid- to low-energy home where he will not feel overwhelmed. He needs an adopter who understands that trust takes time and who is willing to work with him gently on confidence, handling, and routine. He may do well with another respectful dog after slow introductions, but he has shown some signs of resource guarding, so structure and supervision around food, treats, and high-value items will be important. Older kids would be best so they can respect his space and let him come around at his own pace.
