 About Me
This sweet boy is a loving “velcro dog” who wants nothing more than to be close to his person. He forms deep bonds and has so much love to give, but he’s still learning to fully trust the world around him. When he first came to me, he had been severely neglected, which is why he can be so shut down and shy with new people and unfamiliar environments. With patience, consistency, and a lot of love, I’ve helped him get to where he is today. Once he trusts you, he will not leave your side — he always wants his head touching your leg or resting against your stomach for comfort and reassurance. He’s looking for a patient, understanding home that will allow him the time and space to decompress, build confidence, and continue blossoming at his own pace.

He is fully house trained and crate trained, and he does wonderfully in the car once helped inside. He enjoys spending time outside playing in the backyard and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he feels safe and secure. He also does well in public settings around children and other animals — he does not bark or lunge at dogs while out and about. He currently lives successfully with both dogs and cats.

Slow introductions, baby gates, and giving him space to adjust made all the difference, and he now does very well with them. Like many dogs learning confidence, he may occasionally growl when he needs space, so continued patience and respect for his boundaries are important. He is still gaining confidence on leash and tends to walk slowly, sometimes pausing frequently when unsure. He responds best to gentle encouragement and a calm, patient handler who can continue helping him feel safe. Because he is still learning trust and boundaries, a home without small children is recommended. He is currently heartworm positive and undergoing treatment. This boy truly has the sweetest heart. Once he trusts you, he will become your most loyal companion and happiest shadow. He just needs someone willing to see past his fears and give him the chance he deserves.
